Quinta Lago dos Cisnes is a wedding estate in Prozelo, Amares, in the Braga district of northern Portugal, on the banks of the Cávado river. It is one of the most requested wedding venues in the north, about an hour by car from Porto airport.

The estate has a panoramic dining hall overlooking its lakes and the river, an exotic garden for the cocktail, banquet halls, an outdoor terrace and landscaped gardens for outdoor ceremonies, and hosts weddings of around 140 to 350 guests. Catering is in-house, there is a rain plan for outdoor moments, and celebrations can run until the early hours.

Filming a wedding at Quinta Lago dos Cisnes

Water changes a wedding film: reflections at golden hour, swans on the lake, calm wide shots between the busy moments of the day. We plan the portraits around the lakes and the river in the last light, away from the guests.

For couples coming from abroad, the Minho is a different Portugal from Lisbon: greener, quieter, and close to Braga and Porto. We travel north with the full crew, and the rest of the day is filmed exactly as we would film it at home.

In the north of Portugal the sun sets at about 9 pm in June and July, about 8 pm in early September and about 7 pm in early October, so we plan the timeline backwards from sunset.

• Ask the venue about its rain plan for outdoor moments, and share it with us.
• Because celebrations can run until the early hours, we plan the film to include the end of the night.
• Since the venue is about an hour from Porto airport, plan the transfers for guests arriving by plane.
