About Arriba

Arriba stands above the beach at Guincho, in Cascais, with the Atlantic in front and the Sintra hills behind. Opened in 2012 and run by the events company Casa do Marquês, it spreads over three floors with terraces facing the ocean and a saltwater ocean pool.

Its main room, the Ocean Room, opens onto a terrace and seats up to around 400 guests; the Guincho room, also with a terrace, seats around 130, and the Molho de Tomate restaurant suits smaller gatherings.

Filming a wedding at Arriba

Guincho is open to the Atlantic, so the wind, the waves and the sunset are part of the story. We use them: long lenses from the terraces, close moments when the wind picks up, and the last light over the ocean for portraits by the pool.

We plan sound carefully at Arriba. Vows and speeches outdoors by the sea need the right microphones, and we place them before the guests arrive. Inside, the Ocean Room’s glass and terrace let us film the dance floor with the sea still in the frame.

Planning your wedding film at Arriba Guincho

Arriba stands over the Atlantic, so the wind, the waves and the sunset are part of the film. The ocean pool and the terraces are the places where the light is best. Around Lisbon and the Atlantic coast, the sun sets at about 9 pm in June and July, about 8 pm in early September and about 7 pm in early October, so we plan the timeline backwards from sunset.

  • Plan the ceremony and portraits for the last two hours before sunset, when the terraces face the light.
  • Bring a layer for the guests: Guincho is windy, even in summer.
  • Share the room layout with us in advance. The Ocean Room opens onto a terrace, and we plan camera positions for both spaces.
  • Ask the venue about its rain plan and the rules for drone footage near the beach.

Getting there: Arriba is about 38 km from Lisbon airport, about 35 minutes by car without traffic.

How many guests can Arriba host?

The Ocean Room seats up to around 400 guests, the Guincho room around 130. Confirm the final layout with the venue.

Is the wind a problem for the film at Guincho?

Not for the picture, it often helps. For sound we use dedicated microphones on the officiant and the speakers, so vows and speeches stay clear.
